Don’t worry we are here to help!

CBD is an abbreviated name for Cannabidiol, one of many chemical compounds called photocannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. Every single vertebrate on earth has naturally occuring cannabinoids in our body already and they are used to help regulate many bodily functions.

what is a photocannabinoid and why should I care?

All vertebrates on earth utilize naturally occuring compounds known as cannabinoids to help regulate bodily functions. Photocannabinoids is a term used to describe the cannabinoids naturally found in some plants as opposed to endocannabinoids, which are found in animals.  We all have an Endocannabinoid System that interacts with these compounds to produce the desired physical or chemical effects!  For example, THC interacts with cannabinoid receptors (CB1) in the brain to induce temporary chemical and physiological changes to induce the “high” feeling associated with ingesting traditional marijuana.  Fortunately, CBD has a different chemical structure to THC and is able to interact with different cannabinoid receptors (CB2) to produce different effects. These receptors are found throughout the body and can help regulate bodily systems.

What effects can CBD have on me?

Everyone’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a little different.  Some people will be particularly sensitive to even mild doses of cannabinoids while others will have a higher tolerance!  CBD is most known for its ability to interact with specific enzymes and receptors that help reduce pain and inflammation when applied topically.  Ingesting CBD internally, either through smoke/vapor inhalation or through consuming an edible or tincture, has been shown to suppress autonomic arousal (increased heart rate, rapid breathing, shaking ect.) in addition to the pain/anti-inflammatory properties.  It is the only cannabinoid that is currently approved by the FDA to treat seizures and some forms of epilepsy.  In short, only you can say what CBD will do for you!  Some people might not see a huge effect, while others will claim it is a cure for everything.  Talking to your doctor about cannabinoid treatment is your best option for medical advice, but you can also talk to one of our team members to learn more about how CBD interacts with the body and what an average person can expect once CBD is introduced into their routine!

Why should I buy CBD at virgin abis when I can buy it online for much cheaper?

The answer is you can, but beware of scams!  A recent study showed that out of 75 CBD products tested, only 17 were labeled correctly!  This means that if you bought a bottle of CBD tincture randomly online, you would have a 22% chance of actually getting what you ordered.  The main cause for this is the lack of federal regulation.  Many companies out there mass-produce “CBD oil” from hemp seed and then sell it to various other companies who put a small amount of the CBD into their products, mark the “new” product up by 50%, and stick it back on the shelf with a new CBD sticker.  We at Virgin Abis have worked hard (over a year of testing!) to ensure that all of our products are of the highest quality, with most of our products coming from small, family-owned single source companies.  The majority of our product is produced from the actual flowers of the Cannabis Sativa Hemp plant and we can provide third party testing results to verify the concentration of cannabinoids in each product.

Whats the difference between Full spectrum, Broad spectrum, and an isolate?

These terms refer to the total amount of cannabinoids present in the product and can often tell you what the product was made from!  Full spectrum products are generally produced from the flower of the plant where there is the highest concentration of cannabinoids.  There is no filtering of cannabinoids, so whatever is in the flower ends up in the final product.  By law, hemp can have up to but not more than .3% delta9-THC by dry weight.  Full spectrum products can have minimal amounts of THC as allowed by law.  Broad spectrum products are often made from the seeds and stalk of the cannabis plants.  There are less cannabinoids present in the seeds and stalks than in the flower of the plant.  Broad spectrum CBD products made from seeds or stems often have 0% THC, so it is a better choice for those who may be drug tested.  Isolates are just a single cannabinoid which is isolated and collated in a scientific laboratory. They can be added to an existing product to increase cannabinoid content.

Virgin Abis believes that all cannabinoids have beneficial properties, so the majority of our products are full spectrum. If you might be drug tested, please let us know so that we can direct you toward broad spectrum products with 0% THC.
